New Pool Construction 8 questions
How long does it take to build a pool in Florida?
Most new pools take about 8 to 12 weeks from permitting to final inspection. The exact timeline depends on your design, county permitting, weather and material availability. We'll give you a realistic schedule before work begins.
How much does a new pool cost?
New custom pools from Coastal Oasis Pools start at $75,000. Your final price depends on pool size and shape, interior finish, spa, water features, equipment, decking and whether you add a screen enclosure. Every project gets a free, itemized quote.
Do you handle the pool permit process?
Yes. As a licensed Florida pool contractor, we prepare the plans, coordinate engineering and required reviews, and manage county permits and inspections for your project.
What kind of pools do you build?
We build custom in-ground concrete pools designed around your yard, your budget and how your family plans to use the pool. Every pool is steel-reinforced and built to fit your space, from simple rectangles to freeform and lagoon-style designs.
What features can I add to a new pool?
Popular options include tanning ledges, attached or raised spillover spas, bubblers, deck jets, sheer descent waterfalls, fire bowls, color LED lighting, smart automation, heat pumps, saltwater systems and paver or travertine decks.
What pool safety features does Florida require?
Under Florida's Residential Swimming Pool Safety Act, a new residential pool must have at least one approved safety feature. The options are a pool barrier or fence, an approved safety cover, exit alarms on doors and windows that open to the pool, or self-closing, self-latching devices on those doors. We'll help you choose the best fit for your home.
Do I need a screen enclosure for my pool?
A screen enclosure isn't required, but many Florida homeowners add one to keep out bugs, leaves and debris and to cut down on cleaning. Ask us about adding one to your project plan.
When is the best time to build a pool in Florida?
Pools can be built year-round in Florida. Many homeowners start in fall or winter so the pool is ready for spring and summer. Because permitting adds time, it's smart to plan a few months ahead of when you want to swim.
Remodeling & Resurfacing 7 questions
How do I know if my pool needs resurfacing?
Common signs include rough or chalky plaster, stains that won't brush out, cracks, hollow or peeling spots, exposed aggregate, and water chemistry that's hard to keep balanced. Florida sun and heat speed up wear. A free inspection will tell you if you need a full resurface, a remodel or just a spot repair.
How much does pool resurfacing cost in Florida?
Florida pool resurfacing typically runs about $5 to $12 or more per square foot of interior surface, depending on the finish. Standard plaster is the most affordable, quartz is mid-range, and pebble finishes cost the most but last the longest.
What's the difference between plaster, quartz and pebble finishes?
Classic white plaster is the most budget-friendly and typically lasts about 7 to 12 years. Quartz blends crushed quartz into the plaster for better stain resistance and color, usually lasting about 10 to 15 years. Pebble finishes are textured, very durable and can last 15 to 20 years or more.
How long does pool resurfacing take?
Most resurfacing projects take about one to two weeks, including draining, surface prep, applying the new finish, refilling and water startup. Extra repairs, tile work or weather can add time.
Can you remodel or modernize an existing pool?
Yes. We handle pool remodels including new interior finishes, waterline tile, coping, reshaped steps and benches, tanning ledges, LED lighting, spas, automation and energy-efficient equipment.
Can you add a tanning ledge or spa to my existing pool?
In many cases, yes. Whether it works depends on your pool's layout, depth and structure. We'll look at your pool during a free estimate and tell you what's possible.
What do I need to do after my pool is resurfaced?
A new finish needs careful startup. That usually means regular brushing and closely balanced water chemistry during the first few weeks so the surface cures evenly. We'll walk you through exactly what to do.
Repairs & Equipment 7 questions
What pool repairs do you handle?
We repair pumps, motors, filters, heaters, heat pumps, salt cells, automation systems, pool lights, plumbing leaks, cracked tile and coping, and surface damage. If something is keeping you out of the water, we can diagnose and fix it.
How do I know if my pool is leaking?
If your pool loses more than about a quarter inch of water per day beyond normal evaporation, you may have a leak. A simple bucket test helps: set a bucket of pool water on the top step, mark both water levels, and compare them after 24 hours. If the pool drops faster than the bucket, call us for leak detection.
Do you offer pool leak detection?
Yes. We pressure test plumbing lines and check the shell, fittings and light niches to find the source of a leak, then give you a repair plan with clear pricing.
Should I upgrade to a variable-speed pool pump?
For most pools, yes. Variable-speed pumps run at lower speeds for longer, which can cut pump energy use significantly compared with older single-speed pumps. Federal efficiency standards now require most new replacement pool pumps to meet variable-speed efficiency levels.
Is a saltwater pool worth it?
Many homeowners love saltwater systems because the water feels softer and you don't have to handle as much chlorine. A salt system makes its own chlorine from salt in the water. The cell needs periodic cleaning and eventual replacement, so we'll help you weigh the costs for your pool.
Can I control my pool from my phone?
Yes. Smart automation systems let you control your pump, lights, heater and water features from your phone. We can add automation to a new build or an existing pool.
Do I need a pool heater in Florida?
It's optional, but a heat pump lets you swim comfortably during cooler months and extends your season. Many Florida homeowners say it's the upgrade they use most.
Weekly Pool Service 3 questions
What's included in weekly pool service?
Weekly pool service includes brushing, skimming and vacuuming, water testing and chemical balancing, filter cleaning, and a check of your equipment, so your pool stays clean and swim-ready all year.
Do you service pools you didn't build?
Yes. We service and repair existing pools as well as pools we build. Contact us to check availability in your area.
My pool turned green. Can you help?
Yes. We handle green-to-clean recovery. Green water usually means algae from low sanitizer, poor circulation or a filtration problem. We'll clear the water and find the cause so it doesn't come back.
Cost & Financing 3 questions
Are your estimates free?
Yes. Every estimate is free. We visit your property and give you a clear, itemized quote so you know exactly what you're paying for.
Do you offer pool financing?
Yes. Financing is available for new pools and remodels through our lending partner for qualified homeowners. Ask during your free estimate or check your options online.
What affects the cost of a pool project?
The biggest factors are pool size and shape, interior finish, spas and water features, equipment, decking, screen enclosures, site access, soil conditions and permitting requirements. A free on-site visit is the best way to get an accurate price.
Florida Pool Care & Storms 3 questions
Should I drain my pool before a hurricane?
No. Don't drain your pool before a storm. The water helps hold the pool in place. Keep it full or lower it only slightly to leave room for rain, turn off power to your pool equipment, remove loose furniture and toys, and add extra chlorine to help with debris and runoff.
Can draining a pool damage it in Florida?
Yes, it can. Florida's high water table can push up on an empty pool shell and cause it to crack or lift. Draining should only be done by professionals who take the right precautions, such as during resurfacing.
How do I keep my pool clean during Florida's rainy season?
Run your pump long enough to keep water circulating, empty skimmer baskets often, test and balance your water after heavy rain, and keep sanitizer levels up. Weekly pool service takes this off your plate.
